Externships give teachers perspective as to how the skills being taught in the classroom are used on the job. You’ll hear from employers about how they’ve incorporated externships into their businesses and about the benefits to both the businesses and teachers:

• Prepares students for the workforce and increases awareness of career opportunities.

• Addresses the skills gap most employers report between classroom and workplace

• Increases visibility in the schools and possible talent pipeline

• Helps bring real problems of practice into the curriculum by collaboratively developing projects or capstones

• Provides connection to schools that can lead to further opportunities for work-based learning partnerships and recruiting opportunities
